Grayling Fly Rods
An ideal fly rod for grayling fly fishing depends on the tactics used. For example if czech nymphing for grayling then a soft action 10 foot rods is the correct fly rod for the task. 10 feet means it is easy to hold a long fluorocarbon leader (some people use 20' plus leaders!) typically a 5x fluorocarbon leader is used. For wet and dry then more useful is a 9 foot #4 weight fly rod with a tapered leader to turn over the fly. You may be fishing a small river or brook, for example often fishing on the River Rye, a narrow river near Castle Howard an 8 foot rod is perfect in the tight areas of the river when casting. So think about the venue, techniques planned and select your rod accordingly. Our team are here to advise if you need any help.
