Please read these Terms carefully and make sure that you understand them, before ordering any Products from our site or by telephone. Please click on the button marked "I Accept" in the checkout process. If you refuse to accept these Terms, you will not be able to order any Products from our site. All Products shown on our site are subject to availability. We will inform you by email as soon as possible if the Product you have ordered is not available.
Covid-19 and Dispatching Orders
At The Essential Fly we continue to operate as normal and as best we can in the current circumstances until we are advised differently by the British Government.

Please be assured we will do our best to provide you with your products and services to the best of our abilities in the situation. If you would like to call us to check on any product availability, service or any other matter please contact us via 01757 333003 (00 44 1757 333003 international).
After we received and processed your order, we’ll email you an acknowledgement. We want to make sure that we have your product available, we won’t accept your order until we have prepared your product for shipping.
Package and Postage:
When you have chosen your goods, postage and packing charges needs to be applied. For UK delivery normally up to 7 working days (usually because of Post Office Delivery!). We try and ship next day where possible for in stock items. For SPO (special order items) we endeavour to get them to you as quickly as possible but are reliant on these goods coming in from the supplier. If your order is temporarily out of stock, you will be informed via e-mail. You will have the option of either choosing a different item or to wait for the order to arrive - an estimated date will be given where possible.
All goods shall remain the property of The Essential Fly until they have been paid for in full.
Special Order Items
This means that we do not hold stock of this particular item and we will order it in from the manufacturer for you. We do our best to get SPO items to customers as quickly as possible but we are reliant on the suppliers getting the goods to us promptly. So the dates for dispatch on our store are our best estimates. On occasions, the manufacturers may be delayed in dispatching the goods to us or they may have limited stock availability of which we are not aware. We will keep in touch with you as much as possible should there be any such delays and do our best to get you your goods or goods of a comparable nature as quickly as possible.
We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. Where there are queries regarding usage, quality or warranty regarding a third party product (ie not our own brand product but from another manufacturer) we will refer your query directly to the distributor of or manufacturer of that product for their guidance as per their own terms, conditions and warranties.
Substitutions & Clearance Items
If products such as flies or materials are out of stock, then we reserve the right to make substitutions. This could be a different size or if necessary a suitable alternative. With regards to tackle or clothing items, should an item be out of stock, we will discuss a suitable alternative with you.
For fly collections, the contents are subject to availability and we reserve the right to amend the contents of a fly collection by size or type should the stated flies be out of stock.
In event of stock error and manufacturer shortages we reserve the right to refund you in full or part thereof.

We think it is important that everyone understands the legal rights to purchasing.
We adhere to The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations and want to ensure that you get the best service from us for your purchases. On receipt of your goods, you are free to handle them but please do not use them if you wish to cancel your contract. The type of handling that you would use in a shop to look at the products and decide whether to buy them is fine.
Under the above mentioned regulations, you have a legal right to cancel your contract with us within 14 days of your receipt of your products.
If you want to cancel your contract or exchange your goods please get in touch within the 14 days by email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you a cancellation form.
Please be advised that we now offer a free returns service for pre-approved returns. If you use another service then The Essential Fly can not be held responsible for the costs, unless pre-agreed in writing.
If you do cancel your contract with us or need to exchange goods, as above, we will refund the payment we have received from you for the products. You will be responsible for sending the products back to us including the cost of sending the products back (unless using our service or pre-agreed). Please make sure you return the goods to us in their original and unused condition with all its packaging undamaged.
We may deduct from your refund the loss in value of the product/s as a result of unnecessary handling by you, any diminishment in their value, or a cancellation due to an error on the purchasers part, (without limitation).
Please be advised that all returns must include a customer returns form completed by yourself for processing of the returned goods.
Incorrect Product Received
All orders are picked manually and we understand that mistakes happen, the main thing is that it is fixed for you, to enable this please take a picture of what you have received and email email@example.com and explain what you had ordered and received in error, if possible please include your order number.
Please be advised that we may ask for the product to be returned, if this is the case then you will be issued with access to our free returns portal. Upon recipt of the return we will issue the replacement. We are unfortunatley unable to issue replacements without receiving the returned product. If you need to have the product quicker then you may wish to purchase the product again and upon recipt of the incorrect product we will issue a refund for you.
We will refund you within 14 days using the same method you used to pay or you are welcome to a credit voucher if you prefer.
Gift Vouchers / Credit Notes
Gift vouchers and credit notes are valid for 1 year from point of issue. If not used then these will become invalid and cease to work. If out of date they may have no value. At no stage can Gift Vouchers or Credit notes be exchanged for cash.
Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our online catalogue, and click on any items that you wish to buy and put them into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on "Order" and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to satisfy the order.
Credit Card Payments
We accept Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Switch, Solo and Delta payments over the Internet.
All UK prices quoted are in sterling (UK pounds) and include VAT at the current rate. It is possible to amend the displayed currency to that of your locality, through use of the currency selection tool.
Due to fluctuations in supplier price, we reserve the right to change our prices without notice. Although any such price changes will be applied instantly to this web site, allowing you to be aware of them before ordering.
It is important to us at The Essential Fly that we communicate with you efficiently with useful and engaging content relevant to your fly fishing and fly tying needs and learning. In accordance with the regulations for GDPR, we strive to offer a high level of service and believe through communicating our customers can benefit from key insights on fly fishing related matters.

We are delighted to ship our products to anglers worldwide. For certain countries we are required to provide a customs declaration on the contents of the package and the value of the goods when dispatching a delivery. Please be aware that as this is a legal document we are obliged to state the accurate details on the declaration under Notice 301: civil penalties for contraventions of customs law.
Please be advised that we do not pre-pay the customs charges you will be contacted by your postal service to pay your countries VAT, Customs or Excise duty. This cost is outside of The Essential Fly remit and are unable to advise what this cost will be or influence the charges. We We hold no responsability for the cost of international customs charges.
E & O.E. (Errors and omissions excepted)
Although every effort is made to ensure that all content, product information, offers and pricing are correct we reserve the right to amend or refuse an order and refund the customer in event of any error.
Prices displayed on our site are in your chosen currency. The actual bank transaction itself however is arranged in GBP. When confirming your order, a transaction request is sent to your bank to release funds to us. It is possible that your bank will operate on a different exchange rate to that used by ourselves (we used the LIBOR rate), which could result in minor fluctuations in the total amount that you are billed. This is not something that we can affect, though would like you to be aware of in advance of ordering with us.
Bank Holidays Inc Easter Christmas and New Year
We close on all UK bank (national) holidays and are therefore unable to process orders on these days. During Easter, Christmas and New Year, we close on the bank (national) holidays and days inbetween these holidays as our suppliers are also closed during this time. We open again immediately after the break. We prioritise all orders for shipment on our return after the holiday.
Discounts Special Offers and Free Gifts Including Black Friday Offers
We may on occasions run a sale/promotion/discount offer for a short or fixed period of time. Some offers may be of a generic type or others may require a minium spend to qualify or the use of a voucher code. Offers will vary at our discretion and are subject to availability. Whilst we try to give notice via email to registered customers of an offer coming to an end, we reserve the right to end an offer at any time without notice.
Discounts are applied in the shopping basket. If an offer is available, please check it is applied prior to check out.
Such offers are strictly run where the discount/promotion is applicable only during the offer period at the time of ordering and cannot be added retrospectively to orders already placed or outside of the sale period.
If the offer relates to a free gift, this may not appear on your order, but the item will be sent if the requirement of the order is met. Subject to availability.
If the offer relates to free shipping on flies and fly tying, this refers to flies and fly tying materials only. Tools, vices and tackle are excemt from this offer and if added to your basket will automatically apply a shipping charge.
Discounts and Special Offers are unable to be applied retrospectivly to orders and must be applied prior to order completion. Once a order is placed the discount will be classified as requested retrospectivly. Please contact us if you are having difficuly applyng discounts prior to checking out your order.
For our Black Friday offer of refunding the price difference should the product price be reduced further, this offer applies to products from our company only and does not apply to products offered by other companies at any time .
Errors and ommissions excepted.
We endeavour to dispatch same day or next day for in stock items. We will normally dispatch your order within 7 business days. For SPO (special order items) we endeavour to get them to you as quickly as possible but are reliant on these goods coming in from the supplier.
Delivery time normally takes between 1-3 days depending upon location within the British Isles, but may on occasion take up to 14 days. Overseas orders may vary in time to arrive due to international postal systems.
If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you. You will be contacted with the option to cancel or choose an alternative item for your order if you would rather not wait.
Tax / VAT
All orders are issued with a VAT invoice.
