There are times when frogs span hatches and trout become completely preoccupied with Tadpoles, it does not matter what fly we put in front of them only tadpole patterns with work. From May or early June a quick search around the margins of lakes will show vast numbers of hatched tadpoles. From a Trout perspective there are lots of the tadpoles in one area and there is lots of slow moving protein so it is no wonder they become preoccupied with tadpoles. These tadpole patterns can be floated singly or in teams of 2 or 3 flies close to the margin and be prepared! Trout love tadpoles.
