I first tried the Nano silk some years ago and found it very difficult to use. The thread split very easily into the spool making for lots of tangles end ultimately in throwing a spool away. So I returned to using spider web which is s fine thread in many ways but one needs to use a different thread if you want to tie nymphs or if your tying needs extra oomph!
I was then persuaded to try Nano silk once again by a tying friend and I have found it to be 1st class. Not sure if the spooling is different or the yarn is better but I have certainly got on like a house on fire with Nano silk this time around. I now purchase the white in bulk spools albeit a larger initial outlay but over time it repays your investment. A marker pen will also colour the thread if you need it. The 18/0 loses itself within the fly almost as well as spider web but has the bonus of being exceptionally strong and will tie Czech nymphs as easily as a 20 parachute dry fly. I highly recommend the Nano silk18/0 bulk spools.
