Sandys Eye-Lock and Hackle Stop

Sandy Dickson is one of the top tyers in the UK, his innovation is astounding and his fly tying delightful. However well aware many fly tyers struggle with many aspects of fly tying Sandy is constantly on the lookout for new tips, tricks and techniques. His Eye Lock and Hackle stops are exactly that, simple ways of creating eyes on lures and parachute hackles on para flies.

Hackle Stop

Using the strip as a hackle stop allows you to create a hackle post very simply and easily. This is a massive help to novice fly tyers in creation of para patterns. Simply glue the hackle stop in place with superglue or tie in using thread. Cut to length of post and then tie in your required parachute materials.

Eye Lock

Another way of using Sandy's strips is as an eye lock for lures. Any beads, ideally 2.8mm to 3mm in size can sinly be put onto the posts and then simply heat the post to keep the eye in place. The eyes can then be tied with thread or superglued to the hook to make a perfect eyed lure. Again really simple.

 Pack Contents

Each strip of Eye Lock and Hackle Stop contains 50 strips that can be used for hackles or eyes. It is suitable for beads ideally from 2.8mm to 3mm in size, check out our 3mm Petrol Coloured Beads
