Neoprene Fly Fishing Waders
Different materials present different benefits for the fly fisherman when wading. Neoprene is a material with a layer of rubber and trapped air bubbles that prevents the cold water from touching the body adding to the warmth when wading, especially in colder water or winter months. Of course in summer it is a different matter, that thick layer of neoprene in the waders sticks to the body and generates heat. There is nothing worse on a hot day than wearing neoprene waders, talk about sweaty!
