Winter Brown North Country Spider

The Winter Brown is a great traditional northen spider. 

This is a slightly fuller version of the Edmunds and Lee fly.Mike Harding has bulked out the thorax to make it look more like the heptagenia which he believe's it is supposed to represent (amongst other things). Pritt’s version has no
thorax, just a simple thread bodyMkike says that he finds it easier to tie the herl head in, once my thread is locked in position. He then tie's in the hackle and wind down to the hook bend. I bring the thread back up leaving 4 or 5 touching
turns of silk as a tag, add enough dubbing to make the thorax then tie off. The Winter Brown can be a deadly fly, particularly early in the season
