2014 Best Stillwater Flylines

With our flylines we have experimented lots this year on more natural waters and heavily fished waters. One line seemed to make a big difference especially on heavily fished waters where fish were spooky.  PS a hint for newer fly fishermen, when you get a new fly line wash it with warm soapy water, it removes any chemicals left over from manufacturing.

Best all Round Stillwater Fly Line Cortland Precision 5 Foot Ghost Tip -WF7F/I Fly Line

Indeed we used a standard dry fly for 4 hours and blanked, swapped to our winning line with its clear 5 feet ghost tip and caught 10 fish that afternoon. Air pressure? Sun, we did not see much condition changes in the day but certainly caught more on several occasions swapping to the ghost tip. This is now the first line we resort to for lures, streamers, nymphs and buzzer fishing, with the tip below the surface we have more confidence and seem to catch more fish!  More Details

2nd Place goes to......Trout Boss!  This has been our preferred distance floating line this year. We used the orange and marked it with permanent marker pens so we could easily identify bites.

3rd place went to Wychwood, and their partnership with Charles Jardine, we loved the price at just £28 these are great value for money and worked for us as an intermediate on a budget.
