2014 Best Stillwater Emerger Fly Patterns

Our favourite flies, buzzers, always productive and these have produced our biggest fish. Sometimes the fish are so close to the surface that emerger patterns are best while the trout are cruising just below the surface. So which have been most successful for us?

Best 2014 Best Stillwater Buzzer Fly Patterns - Sandys Blank Buster Assassin Black Back / Green

Sandys new Assassin Emergers have been deadly this year.  Indeed two of these as a team provided a delightful double hookup for Andy with a 16lb and 7lb both hitting simultaneously making a very interesting fight. Sandy and his pals are using these in Scotland to great effect and they really are a deadly emerger pattern.

CDC Emergers with their CDC and Sugar Lump Buzzers with their foam have kepy our emergers high in the surface film and the green and black colours have outfished our hot spot yellow patterns. It has been a year for us where more natural colours, blacks and greens have performed really well.

Top of the coloured hot spot emergers was the Yellow CDC emerger which again caught many fish for us this year.
